Character Of The Day

Shuì. It was Alice's pick today, and this is what she chose. It is translated as to sleep and is comprised of 目(mù) on the left, meaning eye, and the phonetic, 垂(chuí), on the right, meaning to droop. Cool, huh. Let's take a look at how it's used in combination with other characters.

睡觉 – shuìjiào means to sleep
沉睡 – chénshuì means fast asleep
入睡 – rùshuì means to fall sleep
瞌睡 – kēshuì means nap
午睡 – wǔshuì means siesta
睡梦 – shuìmèng means the act of dreaming or sleeping
睡眠 – shuìmián means sleep (in the context of “I didn’t get enough…”)
睡衣 – shuìyī means pajamas

There you go. Let me know of any questions or concerns. I'm off to enter sleep myself. Take it easy.
